Override precedence

Explicit instance override wins over project/asset override, accepted archetype, high-confidence inference and conservative fallback. Ordinary objects prefer uniform scaling. Architectural wall/floor fitting can use justified non-uniform dimensions because room semantics define the shell. The GLB is never destructively changed.

Profiles persist class, ranges, canonical dimensions, preferred reference, grounding, orientation evidence, physical recommendations, affordances and clearance hints. A pinned profile revision remains reproducible after restart. Unknown categories may use optional GPT-4o-mini inference, not authoritative measurement.

Orientation and uncertainty

Deterministic geometry is primary, semantic evidence secondary. Common wrong-up and quarter/half-turn imports may be corrected when evidence is sufficient. Forward direction is inherently ambiguous for symmetric objects: an unknown front must remain unknown. Explicit up/front overrides always win. QWAY’s normalized local front is −Z, Y is up.

Animal measurements

Total mesh height is not withers height. The chosen semantic reference, measured/approximated reference height, target and normalization scale are separate. A 55 cm withers override means target divided by the measured or documented approximate withers reference, not 0.55 divided blindly by total bounds height. Where a rig/candidate cannot establish exact anatomy, provenance and confidence expose the approximation. It is not veterinary metrology.

Architecture before furniture

Room dimensions establish floor footprint, perimeter walls, architectural height and opening clearance. Large furniture is placed before small props and actors. Grounding uses normalized contact/bounds evidence. Occupancy, relations and circulation constrain layout; merely not intersecting is not sufficient.

Wall portals do not cut holes into arbitrary meshes. A fused door cannot become articulated without represented movable structure. Scene plausibility still needs visual inspection, especially with stylized or semantically ambiguous imports.
